Here is something like a summary of all the scary movies that I could remember.
The first category is Japanese & Korean ones:
1. The Ring

This may be the most famous Japanese horror movie! But personlly I don't like the movie very much. It is not really very scary, and the episode is not clear if you never read the book. Therefore, I more recommend the book, which I read during my high school. Every night after the light is off, I hided in my quilt and read it. The following is the link for online book. (http://www.readnovel.com/novel/2152.html) you can try it if you like. Treat it more like a suspense novel, but not ghost novel. Lastly, just for your information, the chinses name is called 午夜凶铃 which I think is a wrong translation. Actually "Ring" here means something like "circle".
2. The Grudge (1,2)
This is a very boring movie... Even don't have the basic thing: scaring. After watching the movie, the only thing you can remember is "a weird child with his mouth open"... In contrast, the American version is much better, and you even can see Edison 陈冠希.
3. Phone (Korean) 鬼铃
This may be the first Horror movie I watched! It is very good, leaving me a very good impression. Maybe to a certain extent it is due to "being the first". This movie is recommended by HPP. The girl inside this movie, her acting is amazing!
4. One Missed Call (1,2,3)
This movie, although got 3 series, all of them are quite good! I even managed to find the ring tone in the movie and downloaded it to my handphone. According to the movie, anyone who has listened to this ring tone will die mysteriously, unless he or she forward the message to another person. Some time after I set it as my phone ring tone, something strange really happened... when I had my lunch in Canteen, I got a msg from someone who was in China, and she asked me whether I was in Canteen. By then I was shocked! How come she knew I was in Canteen! She was in China! so far away from me! And later I found the msg is not sent by her, but someone else who was in Singapore, just the displaced name is wrong. But this "wrong displaced name" has never happened before until I used that ring tone. Getting afraid, I changed my ring tone~~
5. Dead Friend 鬼友
Actually there is always some morals behind these ghost movies. And this movie is abt Friends. What friends should be like. You can see from this movie. Although those movie are scary. But it actually try to threat people so that people won't do those stupid things! So from some angle, such movies are educational.
6. Bunshinsaba 笔仙
This game should be very famous! Two people grab a pencil, relax and let their arms to go freely. Then something magic will happen! U can try! although I tried before, but it seems not work on me.
7. shutter 鬼影
This is one of the best ghost movies! Although it is not Japanese or Korean one. It is from Thailand... The episode is quite nice. You cannot guess the whole story until the ending! Also got some moral behind this movie. Strongly recommend it!!!
8. Premonition 预言
this is a movie by Noriko Sakai (酒井法子), quite good one also!!! There are two movies by her as far as I know. One is premonition, the other is Kansen. It seems many people mistake that premonition is Kansen. Actually they are different although both of them are starred by Noriko Sakai.
9. Kansen 感染
This is the 姊妹篇 of premonition. But the style are quite different. In this movie everything is very 压抑. And throughout the whole movie, there is nothing but disgusting... Don't really like it.
10. Geoul sokeuro 照出冤灵
The whole story line is nothing impressive. But the ending tells us something: when u see the word "ambulance" on an ambulance, that means there is something wrong. Most likely you are living in a mirror... Can you guess why?
The above is only some Japanese and Korean movies which I have watched. Actually there are many others like Cursed (买鬼回家), Tokyo Psycho (东京超恐怖传说) , Yeogo Goedam 1,2,3,4 (女高怪谈1:死亡教师;女高怪谈2:交换日记;女高怪谈3:断魂梯;女高怪谈4:声音), School Mystory (女娃娃花子), Dark Water (鬼水凶铃).
There are other many which I never watched, like The Doll Master (人形师), The sisters (姐妹幽灵) and so on.
I like Japanese and Korean horror movies because I like the atmosphere... And the way how the director express the horror. Sometimes they can give me some inspirations.
Anyone who also like them? hehe
